Happy New Year .. The Adventure just goes on!

Returning back in the summer from this incredible trip, covering over 8 000 kms across the roads lesser known of the American continent, I knew I had an amazing story to tell to motivate anyone with a dream.

Since that time, I've literally been spending all my spare time writing, writing and writing.  It's been non-stop.  I know I've still got a long way to go but I've almost finished the first draft of more than 120 000 words! Then I'll have to have the patience of diligently going through it again, and again and again.

It'll tell about how over 4 years I made an impossible dream a real life adventure against all the odds.  No money, no freedom to take time off, no bike and no knowledge of long distance solo endurance riding.  And some of the stories along the way on the journey are hard to believe!

And now another sort of adventure is starting which also seems impossible.  I have no idea how to get a book published but this is my mission this year and as I've recently seen, luck, opportunity or kindness may also be just round the corner.  I probably need to find a fantastic copywriter involved in travel writing and then find a publisher who can help me make this project fly.

Any help or advice on the above would be amazing.

  1. I don't know how to find a publisher, but I would suggest looking at who published other motorcycle travel books is maybe a good way start. I just looked at some similar biker story books on my shelves - try Haynes Publishing, www.haynes.co.uk or Bronwyn Editions, or Ebury Press. You can find more online on Amazon who give the publishers name for each book.

I suspect the publishers will want to be sent a draft of your book so they can consider if they want to be involved. Whichever publisher you use, get their advice before you look for an editor, as the publisher might suggest someone they know. Good luck!

  3. Greetings,
Contact Carla King also known as Miss Adventuring. Carla has self published books about her riding. She took a trip around the perimeter of the US on a sidecar Ural a few years ago and wrote a book about it. Google her name and you should not have any trouble finding her.
